Brockton, MA

Yesterday, on behalf of Rise Again: The Sabrina Best Foundation, Kyla Best and I delivered “Fresh Start” baskets to the Edwina Martin House in Brockton. The Edwina Martin House is one of the state’s first recovery homes, designed specifically for women. They offer services to up to 21 women and can accommodate up to 4 infants at a time. The Edwina Martin House welcomes women from throughout the state, from detoxification units and short term rehab centers.

Many women come here from incarceration, as well as, homelessness having limited belongings or nothing but the clothes on their backs.

the Edwina Martin House has relationships with many local health services. Through these relationships they are able to provide pregnant and post-partum  women the opportunity to begin recovery and motherhood simultaneously, with  better health outcomes for both mother and child. By treating each woman with dignity while stressing personal responsibility, Edwina Martin House offers recovering mothers, daughters and sisters a chance for a new beginning.

Rise Again’s “Fresh Start” baskets help woman feel some type of confidence entering the next step in their journey and remind them that they are not alone. The Rise Again family of supporters are praying for them. Sabrina Best is with them providing love and strength.
